| After a good night of
sleeping, you will be able to visit the Musée
Guimet or Musée Marmottan. The Musée
Guimet was the brain-child of Emile Guimet (1836-1918),
a Lyons industrialist who devised the grand project
of opening a museum devoted to the religions of
Ancient Egypt, Classical Antiquity, and Asia. The
Musée Marmottan this incomparable mansion
decorated with sculptures and furnitures from the
Napoleonic era has become the hub of Impressionism.
It contains the world's largest and most important
collection of paintings by Claude MONET, notably
the famous "Impression Soleil levant",
and also many paintings of his friends: BOUDIN,
GAUGUIN, MORISOT, RENOIR, PISSARRO and SISLEY. |
